Volunteer Abroad

JAYES Foundation hosts medical clinics in rural communities in Krishnagiri, India. Pre-health and medical students from the United States are given the opportunity to gain experience in a medical clinic setting in order to impact the health and wellbeing of underserved communities.

Reasons to Join

  • Underserved peoples from rural communities do not have easy access to healthcare or adequate funding for treatments; they may also need to travel long distances to the closest clinic

  • You can make a difference in their lives by providing access to free healthcare, while working side by side with the local community doctors and doctors from the United States

  • ​Build teamwork and leadership skills by working with peers and staff from the host clinics to set up the camp, and conduct intake and exit care alongside them

  • Ensure patients are receiving adequate care and urgent medications as warranted by their health conditions

  • Educate the community on lifestyle strategies to help with physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual health

What you will do during the program?

Upon arrival, students will participate in a brief orientation describing the 5 day long program and activities. Students will go to the medical clinics in the rural communities and work alongside the local healthcare professionals.

 

Students will provide assistance in the following areas of the clinic:

  • Intake and triage

  • Vitals station

  • Consultation

  • Pharmacy station

  • Treatment station


At the end of the day, students will have the opportunity to reflect on the experience and share learnings from the day in a debriefing session.

Also, students will have the opportunity to engage in alternative medicine approaches through a variety of activities, such as yoga and Ayurvedic classes.
